On Semgrep's Security Benchmark, GLM 5.2 Outscores Claude

On a vulnerability-detection benchmark published by the security firm Semgrep, the China-origin open-weight model GLM 5.2 outscored Claude.

The test measured the ability to detect IDOR (Insecure Direct Object Reference) flaws. GLM 5.2 posted an F1 score of 39%, ahead of Claude's 32%. According to Semgrep, GLM 5.2 ran at roughly one-sixth the cost of frontier models — about $0.17 per vulnerability found.

That said, this is a single task on a single dataset, and Semgrep itself cautions against broad conclusions. Indeed, the firm's own multi-stage pipeline (using frontier models) reached a higher 53–61%, showing that the scaffolding around a model matters as much as the model alone. Even so, an open model with no special scaffolding partly beating an expensive one adds price-performance as a real axis when choosing a model for security work.
