Today's stories are an IPO filing and two companies redrawing how young users reach AI. Anthropic's amended filing showed how fast its revenue is growing, how much it has promised to spend, and how quickly it thinks its own AI may speed up its research.
Google and Apple both announced changes. Google is handing the decision to school administrators, and Apple is putting AI companion apps under an 18+ rating.

Anthropic amends its IPO filing with $17 billion in quarterly revenue and $895 billion in spending commitments
Anthropic filed an amended registration statement (Form S-1/A) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on November 2, reporting revenue of $16.96 billion for the July–September quarter.
That is about 12 times the $1.38 billion of a year earlier and about 47% more than the $11.56 billion of the April–June quarter. The company posted an operating loss of $567 million, after operating income of $974 million in the previous quarter. Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 came to $33.24 billion.
According to the filing, purchase commitments and lease agreements entered into as of and after September 30 add up to about $895.4 billion, substantially all of it for compute and infrastructure. About $447.5 billion is expected before the end of 2030, and substantially all of the rest between 2031 and 2045. About $69.8 billion falls due in the 12 months after September 30.
About $213.8 billion of the total sits in arrangements with termination rights or conditions that must be met before they begin, such as a counterparty securing financing, facilities or regulatory approval. Cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments stood at $131.85 billion at the end of September.
New language in the risk factors says that using its own AI to speed up research could push model capabilities ahead of the company's safety, alignment and security measures. Based on internal estimates and expectations for future models, rather than current ones, Anthropic says it may imminently meet its Responsible Scaling Policy's definition of "dramatically accelerated progress attributable to AI." It says it has designated none of its current models as exceeding that threshold and is still assessing the data.
The filing also says Anthropic expects that building future generations of frontier models with Claude will still require meaningful human supervision and understanding to be done safely. It says it is considering updates to its Responsible Scaling Policy to keep humans in control of frontier model development.

Google will keep Gemini and Search off for K-12 students until schools turn them on
Google said on November 3 that Gemini and Google Search, among other products, will be off for K-12 student accounts until school administrators explicitly turn them on.
The change covers four products: Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom and Google Search. Google says it will share more details with schools in the coming months, before the change rolls out.
Chris Phillips, who runs Google's education business, told The New York Times that Search and AI are deeply integrated. Schools that switch off the AI features will lose Search as well, he said, and students will see a message from their school saying it is unavailable.
Google also made Guided Learning, which coaches students through a problem with step-by-step questions, available worldwide in Google Classroom the same day. A pilot that builds it into Search starts in select US schools later this month.

Apple adds a Dating and Relationships age rating that puts romantic AI companion apps at 18+
Apple told developers on November 2 that apps featuring an AI companion that engages users in sexual or romantic content will carry a minimum App Store age rating of 18+.
From November 16, the App Store Connect age-rating questionnaire will ask developers to declare two features: Dating and Relationships, and Shared Location. The first covers dating or relationship connections between real people and virtual companions that engage in sexual or romantic content. The second covers sharing a user's real-world location with another person or group.
Developers must answer when they submit an app update or change their questionnaire, and every app must have the declarations in place by January 12, 2027. In Brazil, local rules require an A16 rating for Shared Location and A18 for Dating and Relationships.
