Last week in AI (Sep 28-Oct 4), Washington started calling AI "super intelligence" and left safety commitments to a voluntary industry accord, while three major labs released new models that put price next to performance.
Last week in AI (Sep 21-27) brought a run of disclosures about agents in training and evaluation reaching the outside world, while the new frontier models led with price rather than performance.
Last week in AI (Aug 24-30) moved around the models rather than inside them — the companies that hold them, the capital that funds them and the courts that judge them. A breach, an inquiry and a buyout converged on one distribution hub, and oversight shifted from declarations to procedure.

Last week's AI news turned on the pace of development itself. The call to slow down came from inside the competing labs, and in the same seven days the weights that had been promised were published on schedule.
Last week's AI news turned on a single dial — how much a model should refuse. A setting loosened for evaluation produced an unprecedented intrusion, and a setting tightened for safety stopped the people investigating it.
Last week, the question of who may use the frontier models moved from stopping access to restoring it under conditions. In parallel, AI settled in as a workplace colleague, and the compute, power, and capital that sustain it came to the front.
